Shrine Auditorium - Los Angeles Customers Reviews
Still rockin' strong
Let's start with the warm up band, The Static Shift. These guys were pretty damned good, and created the perfect energy in preparation for The Cult. Big, classic rock sound with some cool musical influences.
The Cult were very good, and compared to some aging rockers Ian Astbury's vocals are still going pretty strong. I love the tone of his voice. His range seems more limited these days, so some of my favorite songs were altered to fit his register. Also he can't sustain notes in the same way (which I have seen with Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler, as well). Still, it was a solid show packed with old and new, and the set list was awesome. The musicians were all fabulous, and it was great to see Billy Duffy in particular. I love his guitar sound!
What a treat to see these guys after all these years.
